Attached is information for the events the Florida Orthopaedic Society is hosting during the Florida Workers Compensation Institute Annual Conference taking place August 16-19 at the Orlando World Center Marriott.
The FOS Events are as follows:
1. FOS Reception for Surgeons and Staff – Monday, August 17th from 5 to 6:30 pm – Chicago Room – Attached is the invitation to the reception that the FOS is hosting in recognition of the surgeons and their staff who are attending the Workers Compensation Conference. This reception is open to all surgeons and staff. We hope you will consider coming by for a few drinks and appetizers. The reception is immediately before the Conference entertainment for the evening (Eddie Money) so it is a perfect way to start the evening off with your colleagues from through out the state who share a similar interest in the workers compensation program. 2. 1st Annual FOS Workers Compensation Educational Breakfast – Tuesday, August 18th from 7:30 am to 8:45 am – Boston Room - This year we are starting a new tradition of offering orthopaedic surgeons and their staffs some educational content to assist them in navigating the workers compensation system. We are extremely fortunate to have two quality sessions planned for this year’s educational breakfast. The first session will focus on the new Prescription Drug Monitoring Legislation passed in Florida and the impact on dispensing physicians. The second session will be an open discussion and mutual sharing session with the leadership of the Division of Workers Compensation on any issues that you are seeing with reimbursement, claims handling, carrier interference, etc. With two senior level staff members at the Division in attendance, this is your chance to have your voice heard on any of these issues. We will be requesting that you submit some questions prior to the meeting so they can be prepared with some answers. Please feel free to forward your questions and issues to me so I may share them with the Division. A full breakfast will be served. 3. Orthopaedic Breakout Session – Tuesday, August 18th from 10 am to 12 Noon – Crystal Ballroom G – Attached is an overview of the educational breakout session that includes talks from Dr. Ashvin Patel, Dr. Steven Choung, and Dr. Jonathan Hersch. This year the FWCI has secured CME credits for this breakout session.
