FOS Releases Advisory Statement on Workers Comp Fee Schedule

The Florida Orthopaedic Society is advising our members to pay special attention to certain codes reimbursed under the 2006 Florida Workers Compensation Physician Fee Schedule to ensure carrier compliance with the state statutes governing physician reimbursement.  The new fee schedule went into effect November 16th.  Because of a clause in the law, physicians are reimbursed at the higher rate of either the 2003 WC Fee Schedule or the annually adjusted Medicare plus premium fee schedule.  Because of fluctuations in Medicare, more codes are falling below the 2003 WC fee schedule and our members need to be aware they are supposed to be reimbursed the higher rate.  The FOS has created two spreadsheets listing all of the CPT codes that have fallen below the 2003 WC rate in any of the localities in Florida.  Please see the complete adivsory statement and the 2 spreadsheets that are attached below.
